Course objectives
Mathematics in Economics (SDMM) The course aims to introduce the student to the elementary mathematic tools necessary for mathematical formulations of solutions to some economic tasks and solving them. The subject matter comprises the basics of linear algebra, differential calculus of functions of one or more variables, integral calculus and principles of financial mathematics. Linear algebra introduces especially the concept of a matrix and methods of solving systems of linear equations. In differential calculus the focus is on investigating the characteristics of a function of a single variable and searching extrema of functions of more variables. Integral calculus introduces the concept of the integral and its use. The matter of financial mathematics is to introduce simple and compound interest calculations.
