- Course objectives
- This course gives students specialized information on the starting conditions, process and results of the transformation of the national financial system of the Czech Republic; entry conditions, history and actual dates of the transformation of the financial system of the Czech Republic. This course follows the continual transformation of the financial system of the Czech Republic towards standards of market economics. The course topics describe the key factors of the financial system of the Czech Republic. The course is taught in English and concluded with a written exam. The subject is targeted at analyzing the development of Czech economy since the beginning of the 1990s till today. The lectures deal with the financial system in the Czech Republic as a part of a global financial market. Knowledge gained in the course should help students with better understanding of the functioning of the financial system during the transformation process. In the course students should apply their knowledge from other courses taught at the ESF.

- Future Trends in the Global Financial Markets: Topical trends in the financial markets in the global world; Emerging Markets: A characteristics of emerging markets and their description; The Czech Financial System: Types and functions of the financial system and the role of the financial markets in the economic system; History development: Development of the Czech banking system and voucher privatization Banking System; A characteristics of Czech banking system in past years, description in tables and charts; Market regulation and protection (SEC): Regulation of the Czech financial market, institutions of regulation and their description; Prague Stock Exchange: PSE profile, history, rules, trading groups and exchange indices; Capital Market in the Czech Republic: A characteristics of the Czech capital market in past years, description in tables and charts; Collective investment: A characteristics of the collective investment sector, investment company, collective investment funds, standard and special funds; Financial Management in Czech firms: Principles and practice, differences between the CR and EU countries / rest of the world; Financial analysis: The method of financial statement analysis, solvency analysis and profitability analysis; Transformation of the Czech Insurance market: Principles in insurance, history and present in figures, comparison with Europe and a future outlook; An Outline of the Capital Market in the Czech Republic: Structure, present state, expected development and specific aspects of Czech capital market segments;
