Course objectives
The course builds on the knowledge gained from master studies, which is further developed. The lectures are focused on the following topics: Theoretical and practical fundamentals of macroeconomic policy. Sources of formulating macroeconomic policy. Demand-oriented macroeconomic policy. Mix of fiscal and monetary policy. Macroeconomic policy in op[en economy. Internal and external equilibrium. Tools of external macroeconomic policy. Consensus in the society concerning macroeconomic policy. The role of information, macroeconomic analysis, macroeconomic forecasting. Structural, distribution and pension policy, regional and ecological policy, the relation between economic and social policy, public sector policy, price competition, policy of economic competition protection, economy coordination, history of reforms and economic transformation. An independent part of lectures includes the issues of economic integration and economic policy of the EU particularly the issues of: the EU concept of structural policy, EU social policy, EU agricultural policy, monetary union and its problems, EU finance, problems of enlarging the EU, etc.
