- Course objectives
- The main objective of the course is to understand the operation of economic zones, economic and political, institutional and legal framework of the internal market in the European Union.
At the end of this course, students should be able to:
- understand the functioning of the EU single market;
- describe problems in individual markets, the EU,
- identify and analyze the impact on the entire institutional architecture of the EU and its policies,
- assess the competence of institutional actors of the EU single market and recommend tools to enhance viability of the EU market. - Syllabus
- Setting in the individual segments of Single European Market(SEM) in the European Community Contract
- Function and problems of SEM on the agrarian market
- Function and problems of SEM on the industrial market
- Characteristics of the relationship between SEM and the policy of the EU economic competition
- Characteristics of the relationship between SEM and the free movement of persons on the EU internal market
- History and rules of the Schengen contract and its role in the realization of free movement of persons on the EU internal market
- Competence of the European Commission, its role in legal formation of SEM
- Competence of the European Parliament and its role in codetermination of SEM legislature
- Competence of the Council of ministers (EU), its role in the mechanism of SEM determination
- Competence of the Court of Justice of European Community and its role in SEM formation, examples of significant practical cases of the Court.

- Teaching methods
- Lectures with presentations and examples of real situations and their analysis, case studies, group discussion.
- Assessment methods
- The lesson plan keeps to the above mentioned topics and takes form of seminars. To successfully complete the course students are obliged to achieve more than 60% of the total number of points - at midterm test and at final written test (midterm test - maximum of 30 points, final test - 70 points, i.e. total number of points - 100, minimum points to succeed is 61).
