- Course objectives
- The contents of the Development of Managerial Skills course consists of these three thematic units: Development of management skills on (I.) individual, (II.) interpersonal and (III.) group level.
The introductory part is aimed at enhancing self-knowledge conditioning adequate self-regulation and personal development along with management of psychological burdens. The next section is devoted to training and development of communication skills for business and management practices. The next part focuses on increasing the efficiency of managerial work and deals with demands imposed on his/her personality. The next part is devoted to team work management with an emphasis on the development of creative approach to problem-solving as well as dealing with increasing social sensitivity to the assessment of others and for effective negotiations with them. Motivation of human behaviour is dealt with in detail, affects on motivation and performance of employees in particular.
The main objectives of the course are:
to gain insight into the socio-cultural and managerial skills needed for management practice
to gain self-knowledge resulting into adequate self-regulation and personal development along with management of psychological burdens
to learn how to recognize the personality of a partner in interpersonal contact
to develop communication skills for business and management practice
to learn how to lead a work team with emphasis on creative solutions to problems
to increase sensitivity to the assessment of others and effective negotiations with them

- Teaching methods
- The class consits of a self-preparation done by student at home and a consultation held at the faculty. For each consultation student is obliged to review given topics - the materials for self study are stored in the Information system. In the class the information is delivered in the form of a lecture joined with discussions or solving a case study. An individual/group assignment (presentation and moderation of a group discussion) is required.
- Assessment methods
- An individual/group assignment (presentation and moderation of a group discussion) is assigned to students to carry out during the semester.
Students have to provide their assignment to be allowed to sit the exam. The final written multiple choice test consists of 25 questions (just one answer is correct). The time limit for answering these questions is 30 minutes. To complete the final test successfully, students have to aquire at least 51% of the total number of points.
Any copying, recording or leaking tests, use of unauthorized tools, aids and communication devices, or other disruptions of objectivity of exams (credit tests) will be considered non-compliance with the conditions for course completion as well as a severe violation of the study rules. Consequently, the teacher will finish the exam (credit test) by awarding grade "F" in the Information System, and the Dean will initiate disciplinary proceedings that may result in study termination. - Language of instruction
