- Course objectives
- The instruction in this course introduces students to basic terms relating to the EC and EU, as well as the role of these units as fundamentals of the European integration. After a development survey ranging from the beginning of the 1950s up to the present the course deals with the supranational concept and the organisational structure of the EC/EU as well as the competences toward the member states. Furthermore, basic information concerning EC and EU law from the systemic perspective is included. As far as the content is concerned, attention is paid to the four basic freedoms of the EC internal market.
- Learning outcomes
- Students will be orientated in the mechanism of functioning of EC/EU functioning as the supranational organisation, namely from the perspective of institutions and law. Students will thus acquire knowledge of the EC/EU position with respect to the member states, as well as in institutions functioning and they will understand the regulative function of EC law. Contentwise, they will get familar with only the basic rules of the EC single internal market (the remaining rules are included in the follow-up course).

- 5. EU Competition law.
- 6. Tax harmonization in the EU.
- 7. Consumer protection in the EU.
- 8. Common commercial policy of the EU.
- 9. Area of freedom, security and justice.
