- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to teach students how to manipulate data in such a way that it can be easily analysed. The primary focus is on explaining and practicing regular expressions and the SQL database language. Selected data visualization and statistical analysis tools are also briefly introduced in relation to data transformations.
- Learning outcomes
- Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- effectively search for errors in data;
- check the accuracy of saved or entered data;
- construct a description of a database table;
- import data into a database and export data from it;
- combine data from different sources into new meaningful units;
- group and aggregate data in the database into spreadsheets;
- prepare data into an optimal form for subsequent statistical testing;
- choose an appropriate method of data visualisation;
- make a lot of work with data easier. - Syllabus
