Předmět představuje základní koncepty využívané v psychologii práce a organizace. Na předmět v rámci bakalářského studia navazuje povinný předmět Management (témata Motivace, Leadership, Individuální rozdíly). V rámci magisterského studia jsou navazujícími předměty zejména Řízení lidských zdrojů a Organizational Behavior.

Course objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce students to basic psychological terms and concepts and their application in managerial practice.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students will be able to:
- explain basic psychological theories having application in management and marketing;
- take into account individual differences when assessing other people;
- reflect on psychological limits in making judgments and decisions;
- avoid key mistakes that reduce the effectiveness of teamwork;
- avoid key missteps that threaten the mental well-being and satisfaction of themselves and their co-workers.

  • 1. Introduction
  • - psychology, work and organizational psychology, the relationship between psychology, organizational behavior and management, psychological disciplines
  • 2. Personality
  • - Individual differences, personality theories, nature vs. nurture, consideration of individual differences in management practice
  • 3. Attitudes and emotions
  • - attitudes in general, work attitudes, emotions in the context of work
  • 4. Perception, cognition and decision-making
  • - information processing, cognitive biases, persuasion, manipulation, decision making, applications in negotiation and marketing
  • 5. Groups and teams
  • - difference between group and team, group dynamics, conformity, team roles, factors affecting the effectiveness of teamwork
  • 6. Mental health
  • - stress management, employee well-being, work-life balance, mental hygiene, psychological contract, psychological empowerment

Teaching methods
Lectures, model situations and simulations, class discussion, group assignment, reading
Assessment methods
Requirements for getting credits:
- attendance at seminars at least 80 %
- at least 60 % points in the whole course
- at least 30 % points in the assignment
- at least 50 % points in the final test

Grading scale:
A 84 % and above, B 78-83 %, C 72-77 %, D 66-71 %, E 60-65 %

In the case of an internship abroad, it is not possible to complete the course. The guarantor will recognize credits from a similar course at the host university (e.g. Managerial Psychology, Introduction to Psychology, Psychology, Introduction to Organisational Behaviour, Work and Organisation Psychology, I/O Psychology).
