- Formal language regarded as an algebraic structure.
- Free monoids, relations defined by languages, syntactical monoids, regular languages.
- Galois connections, closure operators, complete lattices. Morphological and syntactical categories of a formal language.
- Generalized grammars and grammars. Productions and their norms.
- Languages generated by grammars. Chomsky's hierarchy of grammars and languages, contex-free grammars and languages.
