Course objectives
Main objectives can be summarized as follows: to introduce various interesting instruments in popular form; to understand basic principles of function of instruments; to learn the application of instruments in common life; to learn the application of instruments in various scientific fields to analyze various physical, chemical, and biological parameters; to learn about evaluation of acquired data.
Syllabus
  • Principles of function and application of various instruments such as laser, photomultiplier, CCD camera, optical fibre, magnetic resonance spectrometer, optical and electron microscopy, near-field and atomic force microscopy, mass spectroscopy, use of ultrasound in medicine, EKG and EEG, brain MRI, roentgen tomography (also known as CT) etc.

Teaching methods
Lectures with PowerPoint presentations and discussions with students.
Assessment methods
Final written exam. It is a test with 20 questions and each question has 4 possible answers. Only one answer is the correct one. To successfully pass the test, it is necessary to have at least 10 correct answers.
