- Course objectives
- The objective of this course is to help students think through real world issues at a strategic level, to let them familiarise with strategic tools, and to sensitise them to the social, political, and ethical conditions that help shape decision making processes. On completion of the course, students should have gained: An awareness of what a strategic analysis can do to achieve a performance; An understanding of what makes people capable of joint performance; An appreciation of why organizations should have simple, clear, and unifying objectives; An ability to think through, set, and exemplify an organization’s values, and goals; A sensitivity to formulate strategies which are aligned to a coherent leadership model.
- Syllabus
- This course aims to provide an understanding of S&L in decision-making process by organizations. The first part of the course examines fundamental strategic concepts, such as mission and vision, and shows how to construct a coherent narrative which offers a critical source of information to company’s stakeholders. The second part of the course tackles the pros and cons of the main leadership theories and focuses on the coherence between strategy and leadership. Above all else, the course will cover: The basic concepts of strategy and leadership as they relate to organizations; The analysis of strategy choices facing organizations; The impact of ideas on real world.
