Prerequisites
The course French for IT Business was created for students of Masaryk University who are interested in improving their French language skills – especially in the field of Business French and IT. The level A2/B1 in general French is required: a placement test will be organized during the first session of the term. Results will be communicated to students the following week. Max. capacity: 20 students. Placement test: 1h.
Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The main goal of the course is to make students discover a pragmatic French language applied to the IT area which is regularly used in IT companies to work with French clients. The course lasts during the spring term of the academic year 2021/2022 (13 sessions, 90 minutes each). Two types of courses: - Business French sessions applied to IT area moderated by a French teacher from IBM CIC Brno (A placement test will be organized during the first session - Level A2/B1 is required to enroll the course). - Business French courses are accompanied by few presentations moderated by an IBM manager (in French and English).
Learning outcomes
The student will be able to: -resolve a problem, a mishap, a conflict in French -present/defend an opinion/decision -give and receive instructions in French -explain/understand a process written in French language The student will acquire new social and linguistic skills: -in IT field -about working conditions in a French speaking company
Teaching methods
Business French sessions: Students will prepare each session by learning the vocabulary shared by the teacher. Grammar will be taught during each session. The courses will be action oriented and will focus on simulations of professional situations in French language. Exercises (on paper or online) will be proposed to students for training during the semester.
Assessment methods
One written exam at the end of the term (understanding and redaction of a professional email in French)
