Course objectives
The aim of the course is to get information and practical skills for solving self-defence situations.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course student is able to: - explain taxonomy of self-defence and combatives - explain theory of personal self-defence - knows different self-defence systems and schools - is able to practically demonstrate the basic techniques of self-defence - is able to deal with self-defense situations in scenario training - cope with physical and psychological demanding situations

  • 1. Strategic and tactical principles of self-defence - Scale of awareness - Conflict cycle - Use of force ladder 2. Psychology of self-defence - Conflict - Adrenal stress response - Psychological principles of self-defence 3. Technical means of self-defence - Grasps - Embrace - Holds - Choking - Strikes - Kicks - Throws - Arm/leg bars - Weapon training (knife, short stick, baton, etc.) 4. Defence against different type of atacks 5. Scenario training 6. Fitness test under stress conditions

Teaching methods: explanation, demonstration, exercises, drills. Tasks: study of recommended literature, study of publications on e-learning at MU, individual practice. Tasks control: questions and in classes, final testing.
