- Course objectives
- Lecture:
The main aim of this subject is to give the students basic knowledge in the branch of Physical Therapy and its use in the prevention, diagnostics and therapy. The subject informs about different types of physical therapy and corresponding physiological response to its application. After succesfull completion of the subject the student will understand the effect, indication and counter-indication of basic procedures of mechanotherapy, thermotherapy, phototherapy and megnet therapy.
Practise:
The main aim of this subject is to give the students basic practical skills in the branch of classical and sport massage. After succesfull completion of the subject the students will be able to treat the patient/client with the use of classical and sport massage in the complete range of indications with respect to counter-indications. - Syllabus
- Lecture:
- The theory of classical massage (characteristics, its role among other types of massage – sport massage, reflexive massage, periostal massage, derivative massage etc., mechanism of the effect, indications, counter-indications etc.)
- History and definition of the term Physical Therapy and its content. General effect of physical therapy and its dividing into categories according to the type of energy. Organism reactivity to physical stimuli, etc.
- Terminology and general rules physical tjherapy application including safety aspects. „Lege artis“ prescription of physical therapy.
- Mechanotherapy (term explanation), characteristics of particular methods of mechanotherapy (palpation, massage, positioning, traction, passive movements, soft tissues techniques, manipulative therapy, ultrasound etc.)
- Mechanotherapy - ultrasound and ultrasound shock wave therapy including methodics of application, therapeutic effect, indications and counter-indications.
- Means of caloric exchange, physiological thermoregulatory mechanisms, adaptation and maladaptation of organism to warm / cold environemnt.
- Thermotherapy - Methodics of caloric hardening including physiological effect of different types of sauna, winter swimming etc. and its therapeutic effect, indications and counter-indications.
- Means of thermotherapy (parafin, fango, peloids, diathermy, infrared therapy, cryotherapy, whole body cryotherapy etc.) including methodics of its application, therapeutic effect, indications and counter-indications.
- Phototherapy – its detachement from electromagnetic spectrum (UVA, UVB, UVC, visible spectrum – chromotherapy; definition, general effect, therapeutic effect, methodics of its application, indications, counter-indications.
- Phototherapy – IRA, IRB, IRC, contact and non-contact diathermy; definition, general effect, therapeutic effect, methodics of its application, indications, counter-indications.
- Phototherapy – polarized light (biolamp, LASER; definition, general effect, therapeutic effect, methodics of its application, indications, counter-indications.
- Magnet therapy - therapeutic effect, methodics of its application, indications, counter-indications.
- Practise:
- Ergonomy of work. Basic techniques.
- Lower limbs massage – posterior part (position adjustement, particular techniques, passive stretching).
- Lower limbs massage – anterior part (position adjustement, particular techniques, passive stretching).
- Back massage including scapular area (position adjustement, particular techniques, passive stretching).
- Nape and neck massage including scapular area, shoulder massage position adjustement, particular techniques, passive stretching).
- Head massage, thorax massage (position adjustement, particular techniques, passive stretching).
- Upper limbs massage, abdomen massage (position adjustement, particular techniques, passive stretching).
- Whole body massage
- Preparation sport massage and healing massage after sport performance – its specificity.
- "Stand - by" masasge. Massage during break time between sport performance. Practical application.
- Regenerative massage.
- Presentation of other types of massage and techniques (Lava stones massage, Thai massage, Shia-tsu, ...).
