- Course objectives
- After a successful completion of the subject "Geography" the student will be able to: - to interpret the fundamental theoretical knowledge concerning the regions in the Czech republic. - to apply the basic methods and techniques of finding the detailed information about the destinations in the Czech Republic on the Internet and in the literature which is available - to work independently with maps and promoting materials during their preparation for guide work
- Syllabus
- 1. Regions in the Czech republic, general features of all the particular regions, relief, weather conditions, waters, economy, national cultural heritage, UNESCO sights and other sights, folk life etc. 2.Southern Bohemia, National parks in Šumava, conditions for tourism on the Vltava river, Lipno lake, Třeboň basin, in the primaeval forests and the most significant sights (Český Krumlov, Holašovice, spa in Třeboň, religious sights, pilgrimage places) 3.Western Bohemia, Krušné mountains, Czech Forest, river system, underground waters, industrial and transport centres, important sights and touristic activities, Plzeň and its surroundings, Domažlice, spas 4.North Bohemia, Jizerské and Lužické mountnains, Krkonoše (KRNAP) mountains, NP Czech Switzerland, river system, Mácha´s lake, sandstone and rocky places, Českolipsko, Děčínsko, Mách, the most significant sights, Czech Heaven, Českolipsko, Děčínsko 5. Eastern Bohemia, Orlické mountains and other protected areas, river system, industrial and transport centres, agricultural regions, Hradec Králové and Pardubice – industrial and cultural centres, infrastructure, the most significant sights, Litomyšl, Chrudimsko, Rychnovsko 6.Prague and Central Bohemia, natural conditions, rivers, lakes, services and tourism, the most significant sights and touristic activities in Prague, Czech krast, Kutná hora and its surroundings, Berounsko,Mělnicko, Slánsko and the national parks in Central Bohemia 7. Moravia and Silesia, Jeseníky, Beskydy, highlands, Moravian krast and other krast areas, national park Podyjí, river system, lakes and reservoirs, ponds, spa areas, Brno, Olomouc, Ostrava – economic and cultural centres, the most significant sights, Kroměříž, Green Mountain near Žďár nad Sázavou, Zlín, Znojemsko, Hodonínsko, Třebíčsko, Opavsko, Šumpersko, the national parks of Moravia and Silesia
