Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to:
-manage theoretically the basic psychological approaches to health in relation to the paradigm of harmonic balance of personality
-learn and practically apply and recommend particular coping strategies
-increase their frustration tolerance in the area of sports movement activities
Syllabus
  • 1.Objectives of health psychology, historical development, definitions (illness, health, philosophical aspects of health).
  • 2.Mental hygiene - definition, healthy lifestyle, quality of life.
  • 3.Mental health
  • 4.Health and emotionality - frustration, deprivation, neuroses.
  • 5.Stress and its impact on health.
  • 6.Coping strategies - assertiveness, time management, social support.
  • 7.Burnout syndrome - risk factors, stages of burnout, consequences.
  • 8.Health-impairing behaviour - alcoholism, smoking, drugs, doping, gambling, eating disorders, social pathology, aggressiveness, bullying.
  • 9.Sport and physical activities as a form of psychoprophylaxis.
  • 10.Health promotion programs.
  • 11.Relaxation techniques
