Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with basic theory and practice of group work as an important promoter of experiential reflective learning process.
At the end of this course the student will:
• know the important terms and principles associated with group work
• be able to use these terms and principles in specific examples
• be able to explain and describe the basic group processes
• be able to influence these processes through specific methods and techniques
• have an idea about the relationship between group work and experiential reflective learning
Syllabus
  • The first part of the course consists of theory which deals with the issues and principles of group work. Theoretical part is followed by a practical workshop where students will have the opportunity to practice different types of work with the group dynamics on their own.
  • Reasons for group work; Social and cognitive theory, Bandura A.; Vygotskij and the nearest evolution theory, conflict theory, theories of contextualised learning, cooperative teaching and learning; Group dynamics; The processes of group dynamics: the relationship, role, position in the group, group norms, cohesion and tension in the group, group development; Types of groups and methods of their management; Educational, self-management, psychotherapeutic, socio-therapeutic, ... groups, different styles of group leadership: transactional, transformational, feature theory, co-management, ...; supervision in management groups.
