- Course objectives
- The goal is to gain basic knowledge of biochemical processes in the human body necessary for the study of related specialized subjects. The subject extends and deepens the knowledge acquired during high school chemistry studies.

- Carbohydrates, carbohydrate derivatives
- Amino acids, peptides, proteins
- Enzymes, structure, mechanism of action
- Vitamins, lipids, phospholipids, glycolipids
- Nucleosides, nucleotides, nucleic acids and their functions
- Hemoproteins, heme, bile pigments
- Metabolism of carbohydrates, glycolysis, gluconeogenesis, glycogen
- Metabolism of proteins and amino acids, protein synthesis, urea cycle
- Metabolism of lipids
- Citric acid cycle, respiratory chain, oxidative phosphorylation
