- Course objectives
- The principles of the gatrointestinál tract functioning will be introduced. Students will understand the processes of digestion, absorption and utilization of nutrients in the human body.
- Syllabus
- 1. Gastrointestinal tract, function, regulation mechanisms. 2. Carbohydrates. Digestion and absorption of carbohydrates. 3. Proteins. Digestion and absorption of proteins. 4. Fats. Digestion and absorption of fats. 5. Energy balance, metabolism of nutrients. 6. Vitamins, minerals and their role in the human body. 7. The role of water in the body.
