- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to present the broad use of dietary supplements in sport on the basis of the current knowledge.
- Learning outcomes
- Aftre completing the course students will be able to:
- define dietary supplements
- read food labels correctly
- orient and recommend dietary supplements for athletes in support of regeneration, adaptation and enhancement of sports performance
- include nutrition supplements in the athlete's diet in order to optimize sports training
- assess the rationale for using food supplements in sport - Syllabus

- Circumstances of the use of dietary supplements

- Classification of dietary supplemnts in sport
- Ergogenic substances in sport
- Carbohydrate based supplements
- Protein based dietary supplements
- Vitamins, minerals and other herbal substances as dietary supplements in sport nutrition

- lectures and practical seminars, class discussion.

- no seminar excuse allowed – home preparation given by the teacher – presentation of 1 food supplement in the classroom, obligatory 3 parts (1st characteristic, 2nd professional literature review, 3. specific recommendations and applications in sport), the work submitted for the selected supplement diet, oral colloquium exam.
