- Course objectives
- The main goal of this course is to provide basic knowledge in Physical therapy and its usage in prevention, examination and therapy of musculoskeletal and nervous system influencing all parts of human existence as a part of comprehensive rehabilitation.
It´s important to meet a student with general principles of individual physical therapy parts, physiological or patophysiological organism response on their application and with mechanotherapy a their possibilities.
This theoretical course goes hand in hand with practical course Physical therapy in practice I. - Syllabus
- History and parts of Physical therapy. Terms.
- General and Special contraindications. General rules for Physical therapy applicaton including security and prescription "lege artis".
- Physical therapy effects. Analgesic effect and pain. Theories of pain. Terms.
- Dispersive effect. Muscle-relaxant effect. Effect supporting muscle contraction.
- Anti-edema effect etc. General indications including effect and level of disorder. Direct and indirect effects. Motor control levels and possibilities of entrance on individual one.
- Mechanotherapy (terms explanation), individual mechanotherapy methods characteristic (palpation, massage, positioning, etc.).
- Introduction to mechanotherapy. Theoretical basic of classical massage (charakteristic, group touches, position among other types of massage, mechanism of action, contra/indication, etc.).
- Theoretical basic of sports massage (charakteristic, impact on the psyche, techniques, contra/indication, etc.). Manual vs. mechanical lymphatic drainage (charakteristic, differences). Other types of massage.
- Reflexology (charakteristic, group touches, position among other types of massage, mechanism of action, contra/indication, etc.).
- Mechanotherapy – ultrasound therapy, shock wave therapy (ways of application, therapeutical effects, contra/indications).
- Heat exchange ways, physiological thermoregulatory mechanisms, organism mal/adaptation to heat and cold.
- Thermoterapy - physiological response of different ways of thermotherapy including their therapeutical effects.
- Resources for thermotherapy (paraffin, peloids, IR therapy, cryotherapy etc.) including their application methodology, therapeutical effect, contr/indications.
