- Course Enrolment Limitations
- The course is only offered to the students of the study fields the course is directly associated with.
- fields of study / plans the course is directly associated with
- Physiotherapy (programme FSpS, B-F) (2)
- Course objectives
- The subject introduces students to Kinesiology and Biomechanics of human motor system tissues. The main aim is to understand physiological and pathophysiological mechanisms of adaptation resp. maladaptation of human tissues to different types of stimuli. Acquired knowledge is applied to specific diagnostic and treatment procedures of particular human tissues and motor system as a whole.
- Learning outcomes
- Successful completion of the subject guarantees student's ability to:
- understand kinesiology relations
- understand principles of special examination and therapy techniques.
- diagnose pathology, select appropriate treatment modality, execute treatment within subject extent
- students will also be able to educate patients incl. instructions on self-therapy
- the study of this subject prepares students to clinical activities with patients - Syllabus
- Lectures:
- 01. Osteo-kinematics - physiology, pathophysiology, biomechanics of bone and skeletal system.
- 02. Cartilage and articular cartilage - physiology, pathophysiology, biomechanics.
- 03. Dens regular connective tissue - physiology, pathophysiology, biomechanics.
- 04. Arthro-kinematics - physiology, pathophysiology, biomechanics.
- 05. Myo-kinematics - physiology, pathophysiology, biomechanics.
- Practical seminars:
- 01. Diagnostic methods in rehabilitation and its relation to Evidence Based Medicine (EBM).
- 02. Clinical anamnesis incl. its analysis.
- 03. Diagnostics of skin, subdermal tissue and fascias.
- 04. Diagnostics of muscles (tonus, trophic state, configuration, strength, length).
- 05. Palpatory diagnostics.
- 06. Basic anthropometric examination.
- 07. Basic examination of axial skeleton range of movement (Thomayer index, Schober index etc.).
- 08. Examination of peripheral joint range of movement (goniometry incl. examination of hypermobility).
- 09. Aspectual diagnostics of lying, sitting and standing statics.
- 10. Aspectual and palpatory diagnostics of dynamic movement patterns incl. gait.

- Teaching methods
- Students will be exposed to the subject in a form of a lecture that will be followed by practical seminar. These seminars focus on manual techniques of examination and therapy. Students are organized in small groups. Each particular technique is first demonstrated by experienced tutors. Practical training is on peer to peer basis under close supervision of tutors and correction of precise technique.
- Assessment methods
- 100% presence at practical seminars, 70% mark acquisition from through-term tasks, 70% mark acquisition from through-term written tests and practical exams. Final written exam (minimum of 70% successful rate) and practical exam. The student is not qualified for final exam in case of not fulfilling the percentage of through-term tasks, through-term written tests and practical exams. Final written test and final practical exam contributes to 50 and 50% of final evaluation respectively (A-F).
