- Course Enrolment Limitations
- The course is only offered to the students of the study fields the course is directly associated with.
- fields of study / plans the course is directly associated with
- Fitness and Personal Trainer (programme FSpS, B-OKT) (2)
- Regeneration and Nutrition in Sport (programme FSpS, B-TVS) (2)
- Course objectives
- The graduate will be able to understand the basic physiological and pathological processes of people with sedentary lifestyles. The graduate will also be able to think creatively about the possible consequences of physical activity on the human body. Not only in the field of biological effects on individual systems, but also in the area of possible pathophysiological impact of regular specific sports load (both acute and chronic).
- Learning outcomes
- The graduate will be able to:
1. explain the issue of hypokinesis in relation to possible system changes of the organism and their health consequences
2. recommend basic stress and biochemical examinations in relation to possible weakness resulting from hypokinesia
3. to list and describe possible injuries and typical chronic injuries in selected sports disciplines - Syllabus
- Syllabus of lectures:
- Fundamentals of genetics (genetic code, replication, transcription and translation of DNA, chromosomes). DNA diagnostics.
- Pathophysiology of cell and cell interactions (apoptosis, necrosis, disease factors).
- General manifestations of disease (fever, pain, inflammation).
- Pathophysiology of stress (fatigue).
- Acidobasic equilibrium disorders.
- Disorders of carbohydrate metabolism (DM).
- Disorders of lipid metabolism (hyperlipoproteinemia, hypolipoproteinemia). Pathophysiology of atherosclerosis.
- Disorders of nucleotide metabolism (arthritis uratica, tumor breakdown syndrome). Disorders of hem and iron metabolism.
- Consequences of hypokinesia. Some systemic manifestations of lack of physical activity.
- Metabolic syndrome (definitions, signs, causes of onset).
- Dysregulation of food intake and body weight (with negative energy balance, positive energy balance).
- Acute damage in sports. Types of injuries. causes and mechanisms of injuries in sport due to the specificities of selected sports disciplines.
- Chronic damage in sports.
- Psychosomatics
- Syllabus of exercises:
- Influence of genetics on physical activity and obesity (human genome, sports genes, obesity genes, epigenetics, genetic tests etc.).
- Influenced biological factors of preanalytical variability in biochemical sampling (race, sex, genetic factors, pregnancy, biorhythms, weight, lifestyle, physical load, diet, smoking).
- Biochemical markers of inflammation (C-reactive protein, cytokines).
- Biological indicators of fatigue. Questionnaire for fatigue manifestations (physiological + psychological) + its evaluation.
- Subjective feelings, speaking test (practically).
- Biochemical indicators of acid-base balance disorders (buffer systems, BE, PH, PO2, pCO2).
- Selected stress tests and monitoring of physiological functions of carbohydrate metabolism disorders (oral glucose tolerance test - oGTT, monitoring of glycemia in motion activity - glucometers, biosensors).
- Monitoring of physiological functions in lipid metabolism disorders (cholesterol, triacylglycerols, adiponectin, ghrelin, leptin). Ultrasound.
- Metabolic syndrome - risk factors (anthropometric indicators, blood pressure measurements, biochemical indicators).
- Anthropometric indicators (fat component, muscle component, bone density).
- Risk analysis of injuries in relation to sports disciplines. Prevention principles.
- Physical activity during pregnancy (recommendation) and postpartum (including diastase and umbilical hernia - practical demonstration).
- Physiology and pathophysiology of running on runway and outdoors - practically.
- Physiology and pathophysiology during treadmill and bicycle trekking. - practically
