Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the subject is to acquaint students with nutritional recommendations for the normal healthy population and for the population with increased physical load. To get acquainted with the basic components of human nutrition, their importance, sources, benefits and physiological effects. Understand the role of water and drinking in human nutrition. Learning outcomes
Student after graduating this course will be:
- Understand the basic concepts of nutrition, the differences in the recommendations for each group, the legislative framework;
- Explaining the importance of nutrition for the human organism
- identify problems caused by inadequate or inappropriate nutrition;
- know nutritional recommendations for specific population groups;
-Deliber appropriate and inappropriate nutritional recommendations and nutrition guidelines;
-understand the risks of improper nutrition.
Syllabus
  • 1.Recommendations. The importance of nutrition for the human organism in different periods of life.
  • 2. Nutritional status analysis. Nutritional status. Questionnaire survey and evaluation of anthropometric indicators of nutritional status.
  • 3. Carbohydrates, proteins, fats - their importance in nutrition and recommendations.
  • 4. Vitamins and Minerals - Their Importance in Nutrition and Recommendations.
  • 5. Drinking mode. The meaning of water.
  • 6. Nutrition of children. Assessment of nutritional status in children.
  • 7. Nutrition of pregnant, nursing, seniors.
  • 8. Alternative nutritional guidelines.
  • 9. Selected diets and recommendations.
  • 10. Extreme diets and recommendations. Rating. Critical reading.
  • 11. Bioactive substances in nutrition.
  • 12. Nutritional restrictions and restrictions resulting from environmental conditions.

Assessment methods
Mandatory attendance at the class is assumed. Possible 2 excused absences.
To enroll in the exam, the following are expected: - pass continuous tests with   at least 75% success, submit 5 tasks correctly. The exam will be oral.
