Course objectives
After finishing the course the student will be able to define the term community and to understand the role of the community in health promotion and care for long-term sick patients. The student will be also able to identify the sources in the community (self-help, volunteers, family) and possible risks of living in the community (stigmatization, social exclusion, violence). The student will get familiar with community care with different target groups and will be able to use the knowledge in his/hers future career.

  • 1. World health organisation, "Health 21", health care systems, public health insurance, forms of health care. 2. Community and community care, history of community care in the Czech Republic and abroad - trends and perspectives, community planning. 3. Community planning in practice. Social needs, social and health services. 4. Seniors in the community, home care. 5. Physically handicapped in the community. 6. Psychiatric community care.
