- Course objectives
- The course is a comprehensive view on the issue of therapeutic and strategies of rehabilitation and methodologies physiotherapy/kinesiotherapy in internal medicine with a focus on detailed problem patients with cardiovascular disease. After successfully completing the course the student will be able to confront the results and procedures in kinesiotherapy the overall team care for patients with cardiology and other internal diseases.
- Syllabus
- • Introduction to rehabilitation in internal medicine. Working with medical records, communication with your doctor about medical diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in connection with the determination of rehabilitation strategies. Rational choice arguments rehabilitation strategies in internal medicine in connection with the removal of physical history, assessment of functional status of the patient by physiotherapist. General indications and contraindications for rehabilitation in internal medicine. Setting of general medical and rehabilitative procedures in hospital, a rehabilitation plan recommendations after discharge from hospital.
- • Introduction to cardiac rehabilitation patients. Interpretation of assessment of blood pressure, heart rate, subjective and objective responses in relation to the patient's physical activity. Physiological and pathological reactions to stress the circulatory system.
- • I. cardiovascular rehabilitation phase - hospitalization. Rehabilitation strategy after uncomplicated myocardial infarction after myocardial infarction with complications, recommend suitable physical activities and the principles of secondary prevention after hospital discharge.
- • II. cardiovascular rehabilitation phase - early posthospitalization. Structure of outpatient cardiac rehabilitation program directed at patients after myocardial infarction after aorto-coronary bypass, valve surgery, heart failure. Indications and contraindications for exercise. Determination of training intensity. Frequency and duration of training. Methods of load.
- • The effect of physical activity on risk factors for CHD. The physiological effects of regular training in CHD. Aerobic capacity in patients with coronary heart disease. Prescription of physical activity in patients with cardiovascular disease.
- • Rehabilitation strategies in patients with chronic heart failure hospitalization and posthospitalisation phase.
- • Rehabilitation strategy in critically ill patients in ICU with internal diseases.
- •Rehabilitation strategies in cardiosurgery.
- •Rehabilitation strategies in patients after acute pulmonary embolism.
- • Rehabilitation strategies in patients with peripheral arterial disease and venous system of lower limbs.
- • Rehabilitation strategies and prescription of physical activity in hypertensive, diabetic, individuals with obesity.
- • Rehabilitation strategies in patients with pulmonary disease.
- • Strategies in geriatric rehabilitation patients and long recumbent patients with internal diseases. The influence of immobility on musculoskeletal system and overall performance.
- • Rehabilitation strategies in rehabilitation of patients with rheumatic disease.

- Requirements for successful completion:
1. Compulsory attendance at lectures. 2 allowed properly excused absence. A note must be inserted into is.muni.cz within 14 days from the date of absence. Long-term absence of serious medical reasons will be excused consulted with the teacher.
2. Successful completion of written tests.
3. Successful presentation of short presentation (5-10 minutes) on a selected topic related to lectured problems.
