Course objectives
The aim of the subject is to extend the basic swimming skills of expanding knowledge and skills in the aquatic environment such as rescue the drowning, endurance swimming, underwater swimming, diving and water polo.
Learning outcomes
After the course the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate swimming skills in the endurance concept of swimming and underwater swimming;
- Prove swimming skills under difficult conditions;
- Evaluate the specific situation and apply your skills to save the drowning
- Define and apply swimming rules, water polo and diving
Syllabus
  • Theory:
  • Structure swimming sports.
  • Swimming instruction at various levels.
  • Specifics of swimming lessons for children and adults, fear and motivation in learning to swim.
  • Determinants swimming performance.
  • Swimming Biomechanics.
  • Development of swimming methods.
  • Technique of swimming modes.
  • Methodology training methods of swimming, water games.
  • Rules of swimming, planning teaching units in the water.
  • The rules of water polo, diving.
  • Help the tired swimmer and rescue the drowning.
  • Practice:
  • Perfection of swimming techniques of breaststroke, backstroke, crawl and basics of endurance swimming.
  • Elementary swimming and swimming with aids.
  • Underwater swimming and orientation in the aquatic environment.
  • Help the tired swimmer and rescue the drowning.
  • Swimming in difficult conditions.
  • Diving.
  • Water polo.

Assessment methods
The subject is finished after passing a written exam and attendance in practical classes. Written exam, a student is awarded based on the succesfull completion of the final written test. The student demonstrates how to test theoretical knowledge and ability to apply this knowledge in the field in swimming.
