Course objectives
The aim of Kinesiology lectures is to introduce students to human locomotor system from the perspective of motor control and soft and hard tissues of locomotor system itself. Motor control is presented as multi level from cortical control towards spinal incl. ontogenesis of gross and fine motorics. Human motor system is also explained from the topographical point as particular motor segments incl. physiology of adaptation and maladaptation to work load. Global postural reactions and movement patterns are axplained.
Learning outcomes
Successful students will achieve basic knowledge of motor control incl. optional therapeutical interventions. They will know mechanisms of adaptation and maladaptation of motor tissues to work load. Students will understand basic topographic anatomy and physiology of particular motor segments of human body.
Syllabus
  • Motor control - cortical, subcortical and spinal level. Basic techniques of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation and inhibition.
  • Kinesiology of soft tissues of locomotor apparatus - skin, subdermal tissue, fascia, muscle, cartilage.
  • Kinesiology of hard tissues of locomotor apparatus - bone.
  • Kinesiology of upper extremity - basic motor patterns
  • Kinesiology of lower extremity - basic motor patterns
