Course objectives
The aim of this course is to acquaint students with the work of a physiotherapist in professional workplaces, etc. supervision of a physiotherapist to work directly with the patient to get used to teamwork. Student keep a record of diagnosis and surgery, which in practice was conducted.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to:
- work as a member of the medical team in rehabilitation institutes and centers, specialist medical institutions and social care institutions;
- practical application of basic diagnostic-therapeutic procedures in rehabilitation treatment;
- reflecting on the short and long term goals of therapy;
- a separate scientific record of the diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

They will get acquainted with the operation and specifics of the given medical facilities.
Syllabus
  • Week 1:
  • 01. become familiar with various social work department or facility;
  • 02. acquaintance with the composition of staff and clients at the Institute (number, types of diagnoses, the capacity of the institute);
  • 03. familiar with the possibilities of education and training clients;
  • 04. support training of staff;
  • 05. the possibility of therapeutic influencing clients (workshops - pottery, basketry, textiles, etc., hippotherapy, animotherapy, occupational therapy);
  • 06. familiar with the possibilities of workplace physiotherapy (physical therapy, instrumentation - Red Cord, positioning aids, orthotics and prosthetics, aids for locomotion);
  • 07. familiarization with different types of treatment according to diagnosis - a practical example from more physiotherapists.
  • Week 2:
  • 01. familiarization with the clinical picture of the most frequent diagnoses - in theory (briefly therapist closely monitoring the student himself) and practically;
  • 02. the possibility of transferring clients - sample, cooperation, and by difficulty of the situation and separate access student; • partial or complete ASSISTED client with transfers and ADL associated with physiotherapy, neurological examination;
  • 03. Sample clients (ideally Mgr. physiotherapist);
  • 04. separate client version neurological examination a student - first with supervision and then without supervision;
  • 05. independent management group exercise - first supervised, unsupervised after.
  • 07. Practice in the children's department - specifics of communication, examination and physiotherapy of the child patient.
  • 3rd +4. Week:
  • 01. familiarization with the procedures and concepts used by the individual in the workplace led training (Bobath concept, BPP, PNF, sensorimotor stimulation, developmental ontogeny in therapy, therapy in the pool (Halliwick method), SRT (synergistic reflexology) ) - a practical example;
  • 02. the student's reflection on the determination of short-and long-term goal of therapy;
  • 03. First partial cooperation with a physiotherapist, physiotherapist gradually as individual supervision during exercise;
  • 04. the possibility of more cooperation with physiotherapists (multiple approaches) - only if it is an option.
  • 05. Practice in the children's department - individual and group physiotherapy of the child patient.
