Course objectives
Encompassment of basic pedagogical categories, concepts and theories, with an emphasis on creating the basics of pedagogical competencies.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able to:
- identify basic pedagogical categories and concepts;
- describe the basic elements of the educational process;
- determine the importance of pedagogical disciplines for selected professional areas;
- analyze the selected area of education;
- explain the functions of education in specific social areas.
Syllabus
  • 1. The concept of education. Education and socialization; value orientation of education; the relationship of education, genetics and the environment. 2. Basic features of contemporary education. Features of democratic education. Formal, non-formal and informal learning. 3. The concept of pedagogy. The origins of pedagogy (Aristotle, Quintilianus, Comenius, Herbart). Contemporary concepts of pedagogy. Relation of pedagogy to other disciplines. Relation of pedagogy, kinanthropology and sports sciences. 4. Structure of pedagogy (system of pedagogical disciplines) and its importance in society. 5. Elements of the educational process (objectives, participants, conditions and resources). 6. Selected historical education models (Comenius, Locke, Rousseau, Dewey). 7. Educational goals - current goals of contemporary education. Preparing an individual for social roles (education for the life of H. Spencer, requirements of postmodern society). 8. Education as a development of basic qualities of personality. Education and training. Content of education - education and culture. 9. Teacher (educator, teacher, coach, teacher assistant, ...) - his education, competencies and personality characteristics. 10. Education of an individual (child, pupil, student, client, athlete, ...). Selected research of contemporary youth. 11. Forms of education (school, out-of-school, family). Education and leisure. 12. The system of pedagogical principles and their application.
