- Course objectives
- The course focuses on the menstrual cycle and changes associated with it (introduction to anatomy and physiology, hormonal contraception, menstrual cycle disorders and their risks, technology and applications for monitoring the menstrual cycle), pregnancy and menopause. The course also introduces the different nutritional needs during the different phases of the menstrual cycle and at different stages of a woman's life. The curriculum also includes a chapter linking physical activity, sleep, and mood to the menstrual cycle. The course presents current scientific knowledge and studies related to the menstrual cycle.
- Learning outcomes
- Upon completion, the student will be able to:
- understand the basics of the physiology of the menstrual cycle
- describe disorders of the menstrual cycle, their risks and the factors that belong to them
- compare nutritional needs during individual phases of the menstrual cycle and in different stages of a woman's life
- use technology and applications for monitoring the menstrual cycle
- compare different phases of a woman's life (e.g., pregnancy, menopause) - Syllabus
- Introduction to the anatomy and physiology of the female reproductive system
- Menstrual cycle and the hormones that affect us, technology and applications for menstrual cycle monitoring
- Hormonal contraceptives
- The most common menstrual cycle disorders
- Relationship between menstrual cycle and bone health (female athlete triad, relative energy deficiency syndrome in sports)
- Pregnancy
- Menopause
- The menstrual cycle from the perspective of sportswomen
- Sleep and fatigue during the menstrual cycle
- Physical activity, mood, stress and motivation during the menstrual cycle

- for successful completion of the course is required:
1, study each chapter of the interactive curriculum on a weekly basis
2, complete the answer sheet for the given topic each week
