- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to introduce students to the field of criminology with a focus on basic terminology, concepts and theoretical approaches, as well as the current state of crime in the Czech Republic and forms of its control. The course will shed light on the basic types of crime and their manifestations in the Czech Republic. It will describe biological, psychological and sociological theories of crime. It will also focus on the issues of perpetrators and victims of crime and the methods of crime control in terms of both prevention and repression. The last lecture will take the form of a discussion of the prepared seminar papers.
- Learning outcomes
- After the course completion, students should be able to perceive crime as a multi-layered concept and to critically analyse criminal phenomena and approaches to crime control on the basis of the approaches presented.
