- The course is focusing on the issues concerning the NATO with regards to the European security architecture.

- 1. Introduction 2. Historical circumstances of the foundation of NATO. The foundation and evolution of NATO. 3. Institutional structure and decisionmaking mechanism of NATO 4. French rebellion 5. Rise, evolution and fall of the Warsaw Pact 6. Strategic conceptions of NATO 7. The changes of the alliance in a new strategic setting, the relation with Central and Eastern Europe. 8.
