Course objectives
The aim of the subject is to assign students a topic for a bachelor's thesis and to start, under the supervision of the supervisor, independent research on a specific topic, starting with research works. Relevant literature is recommended to students. Detailed information on the format of the diploma thesis is available on the department's website. Students enroll in the subject in a semester (from the point of view of the recommended schedule, this is the fifth semester of study), followed by the semester in which they want to hand in the final diploma thesis and proceed to the state final exam, which includes the defense of this thesis.
Learning outcomes
students will be able to after completing the course: - to define specific research topics in a given field of investigation; - to collect and record data; - analyze and critically assess the relevance of professional literature and source material.
Syllabus
  • The course takes place in the form of regular individual consultations with the supervisor. The deadlines for the submission of (1.) the text of the annotation and (2.) one chapter of the work devoted to the state of research on the given topic and the description of the source base are always set by the department in its terminary at the beginning of the given semester. The schedule is available on the department's website in the Schedule section.

Teaching methods
The student carries out regular individual consultations with the thesis supervisor and actively participates in introductory part of thesis creation.
Assessment methods
The subject ends with a credit awarded by the supervisor based on the assessment of (1) the text of the annotation, describing the objectives of the work, formulating the solved research question and methods of the work, and (2) one chapter of the work dedicated to the state of research on the given topic and the description of the source base. Students submit all of this in the given term to the Diploma Seminar Office in IS.
