- Course objectives
- The course has the form of regular seminar sessions, where students discuss methodology-related topics related to both media and journalism studies and, more directly, to their doctoral thesis themes. For each seminar the student is expected to do readings reflecting a particular field of methodology. The reading will be critically assessed and discussed in seminars. Particular approaches to methodology will be determined at the beginning of the semester, so as to correspond to the students’ dissertation topics. At least one area of qualitative methodology (e.g. thematic analysis, anchored theory) and one area of quantitative methodology (e.g. content analysis, advanced statistical analysis) will be covered in the course. Seminars will also be augmented by presentations from other teachers and experts in the field of methodology. In seminars the student is expected to demonstrate an understanding of covered issues.

- Syllabus
- The course has the form of regular seminar sessions with discussion of methodology-related topics related to both the media and journalism studies and, more directly, to students’ dissertation topics. The student is expected to demonstrate an understanding of the topic. Knowledge acquired by the student will be assessed at the end of the course during the final colloquium.
