Course objectives
This course is constructed as a reading seminar, i.e. it is focused on the reading of complex texts. Its aim is to inform the students about present problems in the theory of IR and the major literature concerning the problems. Through extensive reading the students should acquire good knowledge of the geneses of these problems and of the outlined trends in their developments.

  • 1) Information about the course and its aims, assignment of seminar works, introductory discussion 2) Kenneth Waltz, neorealism and neo-neo synthesis 3) Reflectivist theories I. - historical sociology, critical theory 4) Reflectivist theories II. - normative theory, feminism, postmodernism 5) Alexander Wendt and problems of constructivism 6) Ole Weaver's fourth debate 7) Epistemologies and metatheory in IR

Information on completion of the course: Studenti, kteří si zapisují tento kurs, souhlasí s tím, že jejich zápočtové a zkouškové výsledky budou veřejně vyvěšeny s uvedením jejich jména. V opačném případě před vykonáním zkoušky či zápočtu oznámí vyučujícímu, že si zveřejnění nepřejí.
