- Course objectives
- This seminar will provide an overview of many of the most important writings in the field of environmental sociology since the 1970s. The course focuses primarily on trends in American sociological thought. Topics will include the rise of the field of environmental sociology and an introducation to theoretical approaches such as "human exemptionalism," the "new environmental paradigm," Marxism, classic sociological theory, Treadmill of production, and Ecological modernization.
