Course objectives
The course looks at the reasons for the environmental crisis in the field of economic theory, at the history of classical and unorthodox economic thinking and at some solutions both inside (environmental economics)and outside the neoclassical approach on a national and international level as well as on a micro-level (co-operatives, social enterprise, ethical banking, complementary currencies). At the end of the course, based on the information gained, students will be capable of critical thinking on economics in relation to environmental and social issues and will have developed an ability to understand and explore relevant links in this field and suggest possible solutions. The course is interactive and discussion-based, and includes a simulation game. It is taught in Czech.
