Course objectives
The subject shows the theoretic view of the TC as a treatment method, which is available for working with various groups of poeple. In the self-experience part the students will find own group and community and will have an opportunity to meet with group principles. The seminar targets: student understands to the theory and main principles of the TC, group and community power, has own opinion on the adiction theme, to be able to discus it, knows about his or her motivation to helping profession.
Syllabus
  • The seminar has 4 parts: Part 1 - introduction, target groups, rules in TC; Part 2 - power in TC, democratic/hierarchic model, training of responsibility; Part 3 - parts of TC program, main activities in TC; Part 4 - special themes (work with family, dual diagnosis, community culture..)

Assessment methods
Learning methods: group discussion, self experience. Exam conditions: presence in theoretic and practical part (80%), written text - reflection of some theme of the therapeutic community (1 - 2 pages of A4).
