- Course objectives
- This course is aimed for undergraduate students (master’s programme) at Faculty of Social Study. General objective of the course is to introduce students in qualitative research. In general is focused on qualitative research as a multi-method in focus, involving an interpretative, naturalistic approach to subject matter (to study things in their natural settings and attempt to make sense of, or interpret, phenomena in terms of meanings people bring to them). The course deals with producing a small research project. Students cope with “Doing own research project”, design of own guideline qualitative research and, field-work – interview and semiotic analysis of visual object are parts of the course. At the end of the course student should be able to understand quantitative/qualitative research distinction, know basic qualitative methods, manage to design qualitative research project (assess suitable methodology and apply it, sampling appropriate subjects) and carry out it (field work).
