Prerequisites
Every student should e-mail to Dr David Holub (on: holub.mail@gmail.com). It is expected every student prepares a written reflection in the form of unstructured text of approximately 1400-2200 words based on watching recommended short movie presentation related to psychoanalysis. I will send more detailed requirements by email after the registration. It is advised to send Word document text one week before the beginning of a weekend seminar. Personal view and critical discussion are preferable and appreciated. For actual opening of the course, 7 students are needed to enroll.

Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to discuss the basics of psychoanalytical reasoning, and recognize it§s use in clinical praxis. Student will be encouraged to explore the field of psychoanalysis further on their own. They will be able to recognize different psychoanalytical concepts, and connect this knowledge with praxis through presented casuistics and simulated client-therapist situation.
Syllabus
  • - Introduction into the fundamental psychoanalytic theoretical and technical concepts to give student’s a common starting point and a basic familiarity with what psychoanalysis is; - Introduction into the psychoanalytic listening and understanding and how psychoanalyst think about common clinical dilemmas; - A critical evaluation of some concepts.

Lectures, discussions, case study analysis, analysis of recorded psychoanalytic sessions, role-playing scenarios assessment.
Assessment methods
Type of Completion: z(credit, 2 credit(s). Lectures will take form of one weekend session in FSS faculty rooms, in autumn 2009. Weekend session timetable: Fri 15:00--19:45, Sat 8:00--19:45, Sun 8:00--12:00. To successfully complete the course and obtain the credits you are asked to: 1. 100% presence on the weekend seminar including group discussion, participation in role-playing scenarios and sharing personal experience. 2. preparation of written reflection in the form of unstructured text of approximately 1400-2200 words based on watching recommended short movie presentation related to psychoanalysis. Personal view and critical discussion are preferable and appreciated.
