- Course objectives
- This course offers the students a unique opportunity to participate in the workshops, seminars and a conference. It includes seminars at the beginning of October, four main workshops between 17 - 18 October, and the conference between 18 - 20 October.
Prior literature reading is necessary in September.
At the end of the course, student will be acquainted with issues of migration, urbanity and gender, and on the basis of concrete examples, they will be apply this knowledge to practical experience. - Syllabus
- 17 – 20 October, three workshops and participation in the discussions of the Identities in Conflict, Conflict in Identities Conference.
- Between end of September – half October, it is necessary to study the assigned literature, and actively participate in the following workshops:
- 17 October – workshop with Claire Colomb: Staging the New Berlin. Place Marketing and the Politics of Urban Reinvention post-1989
- 18 October – workshop with John Holmwood: Multiculturalism, migration and problems of belonging
- 18 October – workshop with Jonathan Bach: Migrant villages in Shenzhen, China nebo Special Economic Zones as cities
- 19-20 October – Conference „Identities in conflict, conflict in identities“.

- For successful completion, position papers from the course readings, regular preparation for all workshops and a final essay are necessary. Students are expected to actively participate in the discussions.
