- Kurz je volitelný seminář. Zapsat si jej mohou studenti bakalářského studia environmentálních studií, kteří jsou zároveň zapsáni v povinném předmětu/přednášce ENS114 Úvod do studia environmentalistiky (anebo jej mají už absolvován) a kteří si chtějí prohloubit přednášenou látku.

- Course objectives
- The discusion-based seminars expand on the ENS114 Introduction to Environmental Studies lectures and further examine in a professional manner recent events of environmental import presented in daily press.
Students will deepen their knowledge acquired in the ENS114 Introduction to Environmental Studies course and become more competent in making decisions about the focus of their further study. - Syllabus
- Week 1 – Introductions, discussion about the seminar content and its requirements
- Week 2 – What is science? Are environmental humanities a science?
- Week 3– Science of multiple paradigms
- Week 4 - Various views on the state of the World and its development
- Weeks 5 through 7 – Ecosystems and human prosperity
- Week 8 - Nature, values and nature conservationists
- Weeks 9&10 - Opinions on solving ecological distress
- Weeks 11 through 13 - Presentation of students’ seminar papers followed by discussion
- Assessment methods
- Seminars aim at using discussion and further readings to deepen students’ knowledge of the material presented in the ENS114 Introduction to Environmental Studies course. The discussion topics listed in the course overview will be further expanded and announced during lectures. Seminar requires students to read in advance Czech, English and German texts in preparation for the discussion as well as to write a mandatory research essay.
Evaluation of students’ performance is based on the following; Mandatory attendace (maximum of three absences are allowed during the semester), reading of assigned literature, a short essay titled ‘Attempt at an environmentalist commentary on a newspaper/journal article’, short presentation of one’s essay at the seminar - Language of instruction
