Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to understand, explain and discuss notions and types of political parties and party systems. The students should be also able to describe and analyse the individual party systems especially of Western and East-Central Europe. They will be work with information on party politics in modern democracies.

  • 1. Introduction. 2. Theory of political parties I. 3. Theory of political parties II. 4. Theory of party systems I. 5. Theory of party systems II. 6. Election systems and party systems. 7. Midterm test. 8.-12. Party systems of France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Poland etc. The syllabus with details can be found in IS e-folder.
