- Course objectives
- This course provides a concise hands-on introduction to linear regression and social network analysis (SNA). In the first day, the participants will learn how to apply bivariate and multivariate linear regression models aided by visualizations and applied examples. In the second day, the participants will be familiarized with basic SNA measures at the network (how dense is the network?), node (who is central?), and subgroup (who is connected to whom?) levels of analysis. The course relies on the R language.
- Learning outcomes
- The participants will learn (1) how to apply multivariate linear regression including basic diagnostics, and (2) how to apply descriptive social network analysis in R/R Studio software.
- Syllabus
- Day 1:
- hypothesis testing
- simple linear regression
- multivariate linear regression
- Day 2:
- social network analysis assumptions
- network and node level measures
- dyadic census, triadic census, and cohesive subgroups measures
- Course information will be updated in the syllabus
