Course objectives
This course represents a supplement to Classical sociological theories. Its main objective is to make students acquainted with basic ideas and concepts of prominent figures of the classical era of sociology (Tocqueville, Marx, Durkheim, Weber, Simmel, Veblen) by reading primary literature. Students should be able to compare them and identify similarities and differences between them as well as understand their conceptions of modernity and modern society.
