Course objectives
The aim of the course is to increase methodological qualification and practical research skills relevant for student's own dissertation research.
Learning outcomes
After successfully passing the course, student will be able to apply methodological approaches, interpret, compose, evaluate them.
Syllabus
  • Course content varies by semester. There are several strategies that can be used to obtain credit: a. enrollment in existing methodological courses (in the department of sociology or another department), b. enrollment in ad-hoc methodological courses offered by visiting professors/lecturers c. participation in methodological spring/summer schools d. successful completion of methodological cours(es) at other universities (typically abroad) e. independent study of a chosen method (with one's supervisor or other expert) that will result in a paper using the respective method.
