Course objectives
The aim of course is to acquaint the students with the basic terms and theoretical fundaments of social work. The course launches students to the contemporary theoretical models of social intervention (social work) and shows them the possibilities of its practical application. At the end of this course, students should be able to integrative loose the case of clients (family, group, community). They will understand to social work as the multiparadigmatic branch in the range of helping professions and be able to assess and solve the case of clients from the point of view of different approaches.
Learning outcomes
The student after the completion of the course will be able:
- to clarify the main conditions of the social work origins;
- to define the key professional goals of the social work;
- to describe the basic approaches to theories and methods in social work;
- to compare social work to other helping professions;
- to apply theoretical concepts to practical problems;
Syllabus
  • A) Structure of consultations 1. Meeting Introduction to the studies, plan and form of teaching of the course. Neededed study materials. Withdrawals. 2. Meeting Lecturo on the specific theories of social work (casework and psychosocial, psychodynamical, cognitive-behavioral, humanistic and existential, communication, systemic and narrative, theories). 3. Meeting They are teached chosen theories of social work (task-centred, anti-oppressive, ecological, reality therapy, crisis intervention, group and community social work).

Assessment methods
Teaching consist of 3 meetings of whole learning group and individual consultations to the essay. Exam consits of two parts: written essay in the middle of term and written test in the examination time.
