Course objectives
The aim of the course is to cover the basic trends of the Czech foreign policy from 1989 till present. The main attention is focused on the position of the Czech Republic as a medium state on the European and World political map. Bilateral relations with the neighboring countries in the context of the Central European region will be analyzed in detail, followed by the bilateral relations between the Czech Republic, the US and the Russian federation as well as the participation of the Czech Republic within the NATO and the European Union. At the end of the course, students should be able to have adequate date basis to study the Czech foreign policy. Students should understand priorities and aspirations of the Czech Republic during certain stages from the establishment of the individual state.
Learning outcomes
Students will understand priorities and aspirations of the Czech Republic during certain stages from the establishment of the individual state. They will understand the process of Czech foreign policy formulation, its priorities and interests. The students will aquire critical capabilities to evaluate foreign policy challenges and about their possible soulutions

Teaching methods
The teaching is based on lectures and seminars. Students should take active part in debates in seminars and classes, students prepare position papers on each seminar.
Assessment methods
Gradeing is based upon the continuous point evaluation throughout the course, thus it is vital the actively participate on the seminars and pass the mid-semester and the final writing test; The course grade consists of the following parts: active participations on seminars, position papers, written mid-semester test and final written exam test.
