Course objectives
The goal of the course is to acquaint students with the role of intelligence services in the process of formulation and implementation of foreign policy by states.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students will be able:
- orient themselves in the terminology of intelligence;
- understand main methods of collection of intelligence;
- learn about intelligence services of world powers and other selected states;
Syllabus
  • 1-2) Introduction. Intelligence in IR in the bipolar world and after the end of the Cold War. Czech intelligence community. 3-4) Selected intelligence terminology.Intelligence cycle. OSINT, SIGINT a IMINT. Analysis of intelligence outputs. 5-6) HUMINT. Information operations. Secret operations. 7-8) Intelligence community of selected states: USA, Russian Federation, France, United Kingdom, FRG, Israel. 9-10) Analysis of selected cases of intelligence operations with impact on international relations. 11-12) Analysis of selected cases of intelligence operations with impact on international relations.
